Breaking news in Oil Country as head coach Kris Knoblauch finally provides fans with an injury update on Darnell Nurse.

Darnell Nurse took a vicious hit to the head last Saturday from Toronto Maple Leafs enforcer Ryan Reaves, and the Oilers head coach reports that Darnell Nurse will be sidelined for 5-10 days due to the incident.

According to Liam McCormick of Oilers Daily, yesterday, the Department of Player Safety suspended Ryan Reaves 5 games for the hit on Nurse. It feels like the suspension should have been longer for a hit with intent to injure, but it's the best you'll get from the NHL's judge.

Nurse plays over 20 minutes a game in tough situations, and the Oilers don't have the depth to take on those minutes long-term. Only being out for 10 days at the most puts Nurse on track to return for the Oilers game against Utah on November 29th, missing a total of 4 games.

In Darnell Nurse's absence, the Edmonton Oilers are rolling the dice, calling up big Josh Brown from the Bakersfield Condors.

The decision to recall Brown from Bakersfield is somewhat of a head scratcher, considering he was recently demoted to the Condors third line pairing.

Regardless, it's time for Josh Brown to step up and prove the Oilers organization they made the right decision by signing him to that $3 million dollar contract.

Although Darnell Nurse is often criticized for not playing up to his monstrous contract, there's no denying he's a key member of the Oilers back-end.

The Edmonton Oilers are gearing up for a crucial matchup against the Montreal Canadiens tonight, and it will be interesting to see how the team performs without Darnell nurse in the lineup.
