Darnell Nurse is suffering the aftermath of a brutal head shot at the hands of Toronto Maple Leafs forward Ryan Reaves, and the Edmonton Oilers are calling him out.

The Edmonton Oilers took on the Toronto Maple Leafs last night on Hockey Night in Canada, and Ryan Reaves is currently being scrutinized for a dirty head shot on Darnell Nurse.

Midway through the 2nd period, Darnell Nurse was retrieving the puck in what appeared to be a routine play, but Toronto Maple Leafs enforcer came charging around the corner, deliberately clipping Darnell Nurse in the face.

Ryan Reaves has been issued a 5 game suspension for the play.

Players like Ryan Nugent-Hopkins are now calling Reaves out for the hit, and what could have been done to prevent the incident.

"It's a dangerous play & he's gotta know that Nursey doesn't see him coming & choose the right path there. He doesn't & it's tough to see one of your teammates on the ice like that."

Edmonton Oilers forward Adam Henrique also chimed in on the situation:

»The game's fast. But you know, just avoid the hit. We're professional athletes. Were able to make those decision quick in our head, and you know when a guy is vulnerable that's one you don't want to see.»
- Adam Henrique

Oilers Central will be keeping close tabs on Darnell Nurse pending further medical updates.

The Oilers will look for a bounce-back performance when they take on the Montreal Canadiens on November 18th. Hopefully Darnell Nurse makes a swift recovery and returns to the lineup soon.
