The Edmonton Oilers have recently claimed forward Kasperi Kapanen from the St. Louis Blues via waiver wire, and head coach Kris Knoblauch finally broke his silence on the subject.

When news first broke about the Edmonton Oilers acquiring Kasperi Kapanen, it sparked excitement but also a fair share of skepticism.

The Edmonton Oilers are 2 games into their experiment with the Finnish forward, and fans have been pleasantly surprised by the results.

Edmonton Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch recently broke his silence about Kasperi Kapenen, highlighting his personal feelings regarding the acquisition.

Knoblauch told the media yesterday that Kapanen was a player the #Oilers were interested in before he hit waivers. Says he feels «very fortunate» they were able to claim him.

Oddly enough,Knoblauch admitted to having prior interest in Kapanen before GM Stan Bowman pulled the trigger.

It's no secret that the Edmonton Oilers were shopping around for some added offensive depth, and Knoblauch admits to being "very fortunate" to have a player of Kapanen's calibre on the team.

So far, Kaperi Kapanen has notched 2 assists in 2 games for the Oil, showcasing his impressive play-making abilities and dynamic skating -- a skill the team was desperately seeking.

After just one game, Kasperi Kapanen earned a surprising promotion to play alongside Connor McDavid on the Oilers top line -- a gamble that has paid off so far.

It will be intriguing to see if Kasperi Kapanen can sustain his offensive performance as the Oilers push to take the lead in their division.
