The NHL waiver wire has been sending shockwaves down the NHL the past few weeks, with the most recent move coming from the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Moments ago, Pittsburgh Penguins general manager Kyle Dubas placed forward Valtteri Puustinen on the waiver wire, and the Edmonton Oilers have another golden opportunity to secure an underrated offensive weapon.
According to Liam McCormick of Oilers Daily, Puustinen was a seventh round draft pick of the Penguins in 2019, and has already played total of 63 career games in the NHL, scoring 6 goals and 23 points.
He has had some offensive success in the AHL, scoring 24 goals and 59 points in 2022-23, but that talent hasn't translated yet to the NHL level.

The Edmonton Oilers have recently snagged forward Kasperi Kapanen off waivers, and now, analysts around the league are urging general manager Stan Bowman to act quickly.
To make matters even sweeter, Valtteri Puustinen is currently signed to a league minimum contract, making him an affordable pick-up a cash strapped Oilers team.
There have been rumblings of the Oilers interest to secure some offensive depth concerning their bottom-6, and Valtteri Puustinen could be another affordable solution for GM Stan Bowman.
