The Edmonton Oilers are currently riding a big high after ousting the St. Louis Blues 4-2 last night, but another unlikely member of the team is making headlines today -- Troy Stecher.

Edmonton Oilers defenceman Troy Stecher notched his first ever goal as a member of the team last night, delivering at a crucial moment.

The St. Louis Blues didn't go down without a fight last night, and they definitely made things interesting in the 3rd period.

St. Louis Blues star Robert Thomas won a puck battle along the boards and made a slick no-look pass to find Dylan Holloway wide open.

The Ex-Oiler wasted no time, sniping one past Stuart Skinner to put the Blues on the board.

Minutes later, Jake Neighbours buried his 9th goal of the year to bring the game within striking distance.

According to the Hockey News, the Richmond, BC native was right back on the ice after the goal, and just 70 seconds later threw a puck on net from the half-wall that handcuffed Blues goalie Jordan Binnington and extended the Oilers' lead back to 2, where it would stay for the remainder of the game.

After the game, Troy Stecher spoke about his first goal as an Edmonton Oiler

Stecher never let the excitement get to him.

"I don't go through ups and downs," he told reporters after the game. "I'm pretty even keel. I don't know if you can tell by the way I play, he added with a laugh.

"That's kind of been the story of my career," Stecher said. "just showing up to the rink with a purpose and working hard and proving to my teammates and the coaching staff that I can be an option to play every night."
