The Edmonton Oilers emerged victorious over the New York Islanders last night in overtime, and Connor McDavid issued a impactful post game statement following the game.

Connor McDavid seems to be back to his normal self after suffering an injury during the Oilers 6-1 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Last nights game marked the best performance all year from the Oilers captain, notching an astounding 4 points (1G , 3A) -- inching closer to the inevitable 1000 point mark.

After the game, Connor McDavid addressed the media for his usual post game interviews, but this time, his message was particularly noteworthy.

«Nights like that I don't want to come off the ice. I felt good. I thought Kris (Knoblauch) did a good job of giving me a lot of opportunities. I was lucky to contribute to a big win,»
-Connor McDavid

Indeed, McDavid looked like he was itching to get on the ice as much as possible last night. Although Connor McDavid is often reluctant to address the big elephant in the room -- the 1000 point mark, -- he was clearly looking to hit that milestone last night.

Overall, it was a dominant performance by Connor McDavid. The Oilers captain was involved on all 4 goals last night, getting his point totals to 999.

According to David Staples of the Edmonton Journalm The Oilers power play has been struggling as of late, but McDavid got things by moving his legs to open up a passing lane, then threading that lane with a perfect feed to Draisaitl for the 1-0.

McDavid also hit the post seconds before the 2-1 goal by Evan Bouchard, but cleaned up the mess by recovering the rebound and immediately starting the next cycle, which obviously worked.

It's also worth mentioning that Connor McDavid took home "player of the match" during the team's traditional post game awards -- but that shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone.
