Stuart Skinner avoids another near meltdown
The Edmonton Oilers big guns came out to play last night, showcasing a dominant performance over the New York Islander. The Oilers outshot the Islanders by a significant margin (42-22), and all three of the Oilers elites managed to get on the score sheet (Draisiatl, McDavid, Bouchard).
This game gave flashbacks of last week's tilt against the Vegas Golden Knights. Edmonton was up 2-1 in that game going into the third period before Vegas tied it midway through the final frame. Then, they got the game-winning goal with under one minute remaining, to ultimately give Edmonton a regulation loss in devastating fashion.

Although the Oilers played a strong 5v5 and special teams game, the team has been struggling to play a full 60 minutes. Stuart Skinner continues to show worrying signs in closing out sure wins.
The Oilers were up 3-1 with roughly 7 minutes left in regulation, but the new York Islanders would not go down without a fight.
Anders Lee notched two late 3rd period goals, and this cannot happen if your'e goaltender Stuart Skinner. He must remain focused and clutch in the final minutes to prevent these meltdown from continuing.
According to David Staples, Stuart Skinner Did just enough to get the win. No real bad goals against, though he did get fooled a little by Tsyplakov's deceptive pass to Kyle Palmieri on the 1-1. Beaten twice from close range by veteran sniper Anders Lee in the third. Mistakes in front of him on both, but not unreasonable to expect a save on one or the other. Stuart Skinner closed out the game with 22 shots against, 19 saves, posting a .864 save percentage.
The Oilers will look to keep the momentum going when they take on the Nasville Predators on Thursday.
