Well folks, it's tough to put into words the magnitude of this win. Last night was one of the most epic hockey games we've been able to enjoy since the team won the Conference Finals last season.
The game marked a huge milestone for captain Connor McDavid. By now, i'm sure it's no secret that McDavid notched his 1000th career point last night.
According to Liam McCormick of Oilers Daily, It was a dream scenario for McDavid to record his 1000th point. On a clean 2 on 1 look, Leon Draisaitl dished a perfect pass to McDavid who fired it into the net for the goal.
To make matters even sweeter, McDavid scooped up his 1001st career point on the eventual overtime game winner.
2:33 into overtime, Leon Draisaitl carried the puck in the Nashville Predators zone, then handed the puck to Connor McDavid, who was trailing right behind him. In classic McDavid style, he delivered a beautiful, no look, behind the back pass to Darnell Nurse, setting up the game-winning goal.
Based of the game winning celebration, you could tell this wasn't your average win -- the boys looked absolutely ecstatic -- and rightfully so.
With last night's victory, the Oilers continue their upward trend, boosting their record to 9-7-1.
It wouldn't have felt right for Connor McDavid to notch his 1000th career point in a losing effort. Tonight marked one of the greatest NHL games in modern history.
The Oilers will look to make it 3 straight wins in a row when they take on the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday.
