Edmonton Oilers clear the bench for iconic moment

According to Liam McCormick of Oilers Daily, It was a dream scenario for McDavid to record his 1000th point. On a clean 2 on 1 look, Leon Draisaitl dished a perfect pass to McDavid who fired it into the net for the goal.

After the goal, the entire Edmonton Oilers bench cleared to celebrate their captain. The electricity in the air gave chills to all the spectators in Rogers Place, and i'm sure all the fans watching at home jumped from their couch.

This milestone marks a huge achievement in Connor McDavid's career. in 658 NHL games, and of the 98 playerswho have reached the 1,000-point plateau, only Wayne Gretzky (424), Mario Lemieux (513) and Mike Bossy (656) have done it faster.

Connor McDavid came oh so close during the Edmonton Oilers last matchup against the New York Islanders, scoring 1 goal and 3 assists -- getting his total to 999 points.

Now, Connor McDavid has reached the 1000 point milestone at home, making the achievement that much sweeter.

According to the NHL, McDavid hit 1000 points faster than Jari Kurri (716), Guy Lafleur (720), Bryan Trottier (726), Denis Savard (727), Steve Yzerman (737), Marcel Dionne (740) and Phil Esposito (745), among other members of the Hockey Hall of Fame.
