Connor McDavid's wife emphasizes the importance of their dog, Lenny

Last night, the Edmonton Oilers emerged victorious over the Columbus Blue Jackets by a score of 6-3, but an unexpected guest took home the 1st star of the night.
Prior to puck drop, the Edmonton Oilers honoured Connor McDavid with a ceremony to pay tribute to his 1000 point milestone.
Connor's dog, Lenny, played a special role in last night's ceremony, standing beside his owner as the organization celebrated their captain.
Among the guests was Connors wife, Lauren, and she spoke to Sportsbet's Gene Principe about the significance of having Lenny in their family home.
"Yeah I think the worst games, you come home, and your dog's there. He's there for nothing but support, and that means the most to him, and he's just been there throughout the year to support him. So it just mean, you know, like, so much to us that he was able to be a part of this moment. We're just really happy."

Joined by his family, McDavid was presented with a golden stick and commemorative Tiffany crystal for his accomplishment - and fellow Oilers players will present their captain with a gift from his teammates.
Edmonton Oilers superstar and best friend Leon Draisaitl also presented Lenny with a golden stick to match Connor's newest token.
The ceremony also included a special video tribute to mark the historic accomplishment.
I think it's safe to say that every good home needs a family dog, and the McDavid's feel blessed to have Lenny around.
