Zach Hyman sends a strong message to Team Canada GM Don Sweeney
Edmonton Oilers forward Zach Hyman is putting on an absolute clinic tonight, scoring two goals in his first game back from injury.
The Edmonton Oilers are facing off against the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight, and forward Zach Hyman has notched 2 goals in his highly anticipated return.
Zach Hyman recently learned he didn't make the 4 Nations-Face off Team Canada roster, and it seems he's sending a clear message to GM Don Sweeny -- you should have chosen picked me.
9:46 in the 1st period, Connor McDavid received a fortunate bounce in the Blue Jackets zone, then flawlessly dangled around a defender, skating to the front of the net and setting up Zach Hyman for the easy tap-in goal.
This game tying goal by Zach Hyman had some extra significance to it, marking his first tally since returning from a 5 game absence.
6:53 into the second period, Zach Hyman was the recipient of another beautiful play by Connor McDavid. The Oilers captain darted up the ice on an odd-man rush, dishing it to Ryan Nugent-Hopkins who then set up Hyman for his second of the night -- putting the Oil up 4-1.
After morning skate, Zach Hyman spoke with the media, sharing his disappointment about missing the opportunity to represent his home country.
"With Team Canada, I think anyone who's on the cusp, or whatever the case may be there's obviously disappointment. But at the same time, my focus has always been here with Edmonton. So yeah, there's some disappointment obviously but a lot of excitement for me today being back in the lineup."

Now it appears that Don Sweeney and the rest of Team Canada's front office may have made the biggest mistake ever -- snubbing Zach Hyman.
