Corey Perry has big words for Zach Hyman
The hockey world is gearing up for the 4-Nations face-off set to happen in February, but a few members of the Edmonton Oilers find themselves on the sideline.
During the NHL offseason, 4 members of the Edmonton Oilers were considered "locks" to make Team Canada's roster, but things have taken an unfortunate turn.
Recently, the projected team Canada roster was updated, and Edmonton Oilers
Zach Hyman no longer finds himself in the running.
After practice today, Zach Hyman made himself available for his usual interviews, and he spoke about the possibility of missing out on hockey's biggest stage.
»Listen, it'd be a huge, huge honour to be on that team obviously and represent Canada For me, it's something you can't focus on as a player. You get a call, that's an unbelievable honour. If you don't, you cheer for Canada Right now my focus is on getting back to being healthy, and to get in the lineup.»
- Zach Hyman
Zach Hyman was business as usual, but it became increasingly clear that the notion of missing his opportunity on team Canada is weighing on him.
Edmonton Oilers veteran
Corey Perry is no stranger to the international stage. He's already a two time gold medal winner with team Canada, and he relayed some words of wisdom for his teammate.
»Those competitions, you need chemistry right away. It's five games or six games, and then it's over. So you need guys that know each other, guys that play together I think he's gonna be there, and he's gonna be on Connor's wing.»
- Corey Perry
If anyone understands the recipe for success at the international stage, its Corey Perry.
Zach Hyman has been dealt some bad hands as of late, being snake bitten offensively including suffering an undisclosed injury.
With that being said, Corey Perry still feels bullish about Hyman's chances at cracking the squad, and i'm sure Oilers fans are rooting for him.
