During last Saturday's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, Darnell Nurse was retrieving the puck in what appeared to be a routine play, but Toronto Maple Leafs enforcer came charging around the corner, deliberately clipping Darnell Nurse in the face.
Darnell Nurse's head hit the ice, causing him to leave the game to seek medical treatment in the locker room.
During Elliotte Friedman's 32 Thoughts Podcast, the hockey insider revealed that after Reaves was ejected from the game, he walked towards the Edmonton Oilers dressing room to issue Darnell Nurse a face-to-face apology.
Although many Oilers enthusiasts were outraged with the hit, Ryan Reaves obviously felt bad about the play.
Despite the scary scene, it's still nice to see Reaves showing some camaraderie by checking up on Darnell Nurse.
Although an apology was issued by Reaves, it's pretty clear that Darnell Nurse still feels a bit of resentment towards the Maple Leafs enforcer.
I completely agree with Nurse here.
Darnell is a big body, and there's no reason his head should have been the only point of contact.
Although Darnell is reportedly ok, Ryan Reaves was issued a 5 game suspension for the hit.
Hopefully the swelling in Darnell's eye decreases soon, and the Oilers star defenceman returns to the ice as soon as possible.
