The Edmonton Oilers are coming off an impressive 6-3 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets last night, and forward Jeff Skinner is finally starting to find his groove offensively.

For the past few weeks, forward Jeff Skinner has been stuck in Kris Knoblauch's dog-house, relegated to a bottom 6 role and playing no more than 15 minutes per game.

Last night, Edmonton Oilers fans finally got a glimpse of Jeff Skinner's true potential, and they've since flooded social media, urging general manager Stan Bowman to keep him.

During last night's performance, Jeff Skinner notched a goal and an assist, raising his season total to 10 points.

During the NHL offseason, Jeff Skinner is signed a 1 year, $3,000,000 contract with a cap hit of $3,000,000 per season. Although fans were elated with the signing, the sentiment has rapidly regressed over time.

Although Oilers enthusiast have been rather bearish on Skinner, his impressive performance as of late has shifted the perspective of fans, as just last week Jeff Skinner's name was listed as trade bait.

According to Liam McCormick of Oilers Daily, last week, The Oil Rig blog named Skinner as a trade piece for the team, simply pointing out the fact that he's not scoring or playing an important role, and that $3M is valuable.

There were even whispers that GM Stan Bowman should ask Skinner to waive his no move trade clause for a mutually beneficial outcome, though that suggestion seemed a bit extreme.

Skinner has also been heavily under-utilized by Kris Knoblauch this season, as he is just the type of winger that would fit perfect on McDavid's wing.

He can pass the puck with great vision, and has a great shot and ability to play the boards. He does make defensive mistakes, but with McDavid playing an increasingly better defensive game, he should be able to heavily outscore this issue.

Although it's unlikely Jeff Skinner gets a shot with Connor McDavid, he's definitely earned some increased ice-time, and fans want to see him reach his full potential in Edmonton.
