Breaking news in the NHL as former Edmonton Oilers defenceman Caleb Jones has been placed on waivers by the Los Angeles Kings.

According to Elliott Friedman, Caleb was put on injury reserve due to an upper body injury sustained against the Colorado Avalanche on November 13th.
Due to the injury, Caleb Jones missed 9 consecutive games, which is troubling considering he's only played 5 regular season game this season.
In 5 regular season games with the Kings, Caleb hasn't recorded any points and has struggled to gain any traction this season.

Caleb Jones hits the waiver wire

Although Caleb Jones is now on waivers, it provides him a good opportunity to heal his bumps and bruises while re-gaining some much needed confidence in the minors.
The former Edmonton Oilers blue-liner will also benefit from some increased ice time and extended minutes.
He's played with four different clubs in that span, starting his career in 2018-19 with Edmonton. Jones gradually climbed the Oilers' depth chart, working from the AHL, to a role as a routine call-up, then eventually becoming Edmonton's seventh defender.

He scored 19 points across three seasons and 93 games in Edmonton, all before the age of 23. That was enough promise to make Jones a focal piece in the trade that sent an aged Duncan Keith from the Chicago Blackhawks to the Edmonton Oilers.

The Los Angeles Kings signed Caleb Jones to a league minimum deal over the offseason.
Hopefully, Jones returns from his stint in the minors firing on all cylinders, boosting his chances of getting re-signed next season.
