Insider confirm Edmonton Oilers planning major moves at trade deadline

It was recently announced that the Edmonton Oilers signed defenceman John Klingberg to 1 year pro-rated contract worth $1 million, including a $350k signing bonus. While this strategic move by GM Stan Bowman has sparked some excitement in Oil Coutry, Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli hints at bigger things to come on the blue line.
It's no secret that the Edmonton Oilers are Stanley Cup favourites heading into the playoffs.
With a shot at the coveted Presidents Trophy also on the line, this is the year for the Edmonton Oilers to go all-in.
According to Frank Seravalli, this is the last year that superstars Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid are locked in for a lower cap hit, and GM Stan Bowman has an open window to make a substantial addition at the deadline.

According to Oilers Daily, the team will have a brief tryout for John Klingberg, but the primary target to add to the roster is still a defenceman. Last week, Seravalli reported on OilersNation that the Oilers could be swinging for a defenceman with an Ekholm-type impact.
»A pretty sizable defenseman in terms of impact. Think if you can, like take the bat off your shoulder and do it, something like a Mattias Ekholm-sized impact.»
While GM Stan Bowman looks to put his stamp on the Oilers organization, there's no denying that this trade deadline is the biggest one in Oilers history.
A few names that are possible trade candidates for GM Bowman are Mike Matheson, Rasmus Ristolainen, Rasmus Andersson, and Ivan Provorov.
