Recently, Edmonton Oilers insider Bob Stauffer reported that the Edmonton Oilers could be making a move on a "off-radar" defenceman, but TSN's Pierre LeBrun has a different take.
Let's get real, everybody body knows that the Edmonton Oilers have been aggressively shopping the market for some help on the blue-line.
Recently, there seems to be some confusion about the type of defenceman GM Stan Bowman plans to target.
According to Bob Stauffer, The Edmonton Oilers are likely targeting an off-radar defenceman, possibly someone for the bottom pairing or a 7th defenceman role.

TSN insider Pierre LeBrun has a different opinion
Contrary to what Bob Stauffer believes Pierre LeBrun reports that the Oilers are looking to add a top-four defenseman.
«I do think they end up adding a top-four to their blue line before March 7,» LeBrun said. «I think they feel their defense has actually been better than what people anticipated.»

LeBrun noted that there is nothing cooking at the moment for an immediate move, but eventually, the Oilers will look to improve their top defensive pairings.
«All things being equal, yes, that is where the Oilers are determined to add before March 7.»

While these reports from both Stauffer and LeBrun are both contradictory, it definitely sparks an intriguing conversation.
While LeBrun is a highly respected insider, Bob Stauffer is definitely more plugged in with a deeper understanding of Oilers-related matters.
Will it be a bottom role depth defender? Or will it be a top 4-shutdown defender? Time will tell.
