Insider predicts potential trade with the Buffalo Sabres
Edmonton Oilers general manager Stan Bowman is currently exploring the market for some help on the blue-line, and NHL insider Jeff Marek has come out will a bold prediction.
The Edmonton Oilers are slowly getting their season back on track after a rocky start to the 2024-25 NHL season.
The team is currently sitting at a 13-9-2 record, sitting at 4th overall in the Pacific Division.
The Buffalo Sabres on the other hand are currently are yet again struggling to gain any traction in the NHL standings.
NHL insider Jeff Marek seems to think that the Buffalo Sabres could end up being sellers if they don't manage to create some separation in the Eastern Conference.

You guys were mentioning Bowen Byram, and he may just end up killing them in arbitration if he's still with the Sabres and it gets there. The name Owen Power has been whispered out there as well.»
- Jeff Marek Owen Power and Bowen Bryam could all be a potential fit on the Oilers blue-line, but analysts seem to think that Bowen Bryam could a prime target for Stan Bowman moving forward.
With the Oilers eyeing another deep playoff run, Byram could be a replacement for Philip Broberg, who the team lost because of an offer sheet to the St. Louis Blues.
On top of that, fans have begun to worry about their defensive depth in terms of a possible playoff run, so adding another defender to bolster the blue line would be ideal. Fitting in his $3.85 million cap hit could be tough, but it would be worth trying to make it work.
