John Klingberg's delay is linked to an off-ice issue

It was recently announced that the Edmonton Oilers signed defenceman John Klingberg to 1 year pro-rated contract worth $1 million, including a $350k signing bonus.
Now John Klingberg is getting acquainted with his new teammates and is regularly skating with the team.
While his addition to the team has sparked a ton of excitement in Oil Country, fans are starting to grow weary of the ongoing delay of adding him to the starting rotation.
With that being said, new reports that John Klingberg is currently dealing with an off-ice related issue which has hindered his ability to get in on the action.
John Klingberg's debut delayed because of immigration issue
According to Liam McCormick of Oilers Daily, it's unfortunate that Klingberg's return will be held up at all, because he only has a few weeks before the trade deadline to prove himself in the Oilers lineup. David Staples of the Edmonton Journal noted that Klingberg's return could be pushed back quite a while.
This is the first time we've heard that immigration issues have popped up for John Klingberg, a rare occurrence for an NHL player but not unheard of. One would hope that it's resolved rapidly It's almost certainly just a hiccup, but it does sound like it's delayed the timeline of Klingberg's debut with the Oilers.

While this immigration issue is somewhat rare, Daniel Nugent-Bowman provides fans with some much needed optimism.
Klingberg's Oilers debut, it's possible he plays as early as Thursday vs. DET, but it could get pushed to next week.
