Kris Knoblauch issues encouraging statement on Jeff Skinner
The Edmonton Oilers are coming off an impressive 4-1 victory against a formidable Colorado Avalanche team, and their season seems to be getting on track.
With that being said, Jeff Skinner has been in head coach Kris Knoblauch's dog house as of late, being pinned down on the Oilers bottom-6.
Although Jeff Skinner's noticeable struggles have prevented him from playing quality minutes, he's been showing slow signs of improvement -- earning the respect of Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch.
After the Colorado Avalanche game, Knoblauch made himself available for his usual pos game interviews, giving Jeff Skinner credit for his outstanding work ethic.
»You look at that goal, the work that Jeff Skinner did to create that. Protect the puck, getting to the net those pucks don't go in unless the forwards are doing their job.» - Coach Knoblauch
According to Liam McCormick of Oilers Daily, Since arriving in Edmonton, both players have been a disappointment for the organization as fans began to realize that Skinner's game has been in decline including Sid of Oilersnation.
»Skinner's early season struggles have caused several fans to question this signing in the first place. It is evident that even Edmonton's own coaches are not a huge fan of him, potentially due to his lackluster defensive game or ineffective forechecking.» - NHL Sid, Oilers Nation
Now, it appears that Kris Knoblauch's message of putting Skinner in the bottom-6 is finally being heard.
Despite Jeff Skinner still being stuck in the bottom-6, a few more solid performances could potentially get him an opportunity back on the first or second line.
