The Holiday season is coming to a end, and the Edmonton Oilers have just touched down in California for their highly anticipated 1st round playoff rematch.

The Edmonton Oilers are entering Crypto.com arenawith a 3 game winning streak, coming off an impressive 3-1 victory over the Ottawa Senators.

With that being said, tomorrow's game against the Kings should be a big test, as the LA Kings have also been one of the hottest teams in the NHL this season.

In their last 10 games, both the Edmonton Oilers and LA Kings boast an impressive 8-2 record.

However, while the Kings appear to have hit a bit of a plateau, the Edmonton are hitting their stride and gaining momentum at the perfect time.

The Kings concluded their second seven-game road trip with an identical record of 3-2-2 to their first seven-game road trip to start the season. In the last four games of this road trip, they managed a record of 1-1-2, which many would describe as a point-accruing slide.

This slide comes at an inopportune time, as the Kings were once close to overtaking the Vegas Golden Knights for first place in the Pacific Division but now find themselves in third behind the Edmonton Oilers.

Viktor Arvidsson faces his old team

Arguably the biggest storyline of this matchup is Viktor Arvidsson's return to California, which marks the first time he will suit up against his former team.

The Swede had his minutes managed on the fourth line during his first two games back from a lengthy 15-game injury absence back on Dec. 19 vs. Boston, and his multi-point game vs. Ottawa was his first since Oct. 25 and his second in an Oilers uniform.

"He put it in the back of the net, so that was nice," Knoblauch said of placing Arvidsson on the top line. "He made some nice plays, and he's typically been a guy that produces and can play with top talent. This weekend, we were playing three-in-four and we didn't want to overuse him. He played the majority of the first game on the fourth line, moved up third line in the second game, and then with the illness to Nuge, he can certainly fill in that that role. "

"I just tried to play my game and play with the puck and work hard," Arvidsson said. "I think we created a lot of chances."
