Ex-Edmonton Oilers superstar Taylor Hall will looking for a new home come trade deadline, and Kurt Leavins from the Edmonton Journal suggests that a potential reunion could be in the cards.

The Edmonton Oilers are looking to get back to the same spot they were last season - the Stanley Cup Finals.

As it stands, the Edmonton Oilers are currently the hottest team in the NHL, sending their slow start the 2024-25 season into oblivion.

With that being said, the Oilers are stuck in «win now» mode, and general manager Stan Bowman will look to make strategic additions come deadline to bolster the team.

Now, Kurt Leavins of the Edmonton Journal is suggesting that the Oilers would be interested in signing Taylor Hall as a free agent this summer, and could potentially trade for him this year as a trial run

»Here is a name you will have heard before: Taylor Hall. Chicago will unload the veteran winger at the deadline for an asset. It is inevitable. The former MVP and Edmonton Oiler could be a summer option in Edmonton. Would a playoff run be the best way to road test that option? Hmmm.»

- Kurt Leavins

It's no secret that Taylor Hall didn't necessarily get off to the hottest start this season.

After coming off a knee injury that kept him out for the majority of last season, former Chicago Blackhawks head coach Luke Richardson healthy scratched the former MVP, sending Hall a clear message concerning his lack of production.

Since being scratched last month, Taylor Hall's stock has been steadily rising, regaining his scoring prowess and contributing offensively.

According to Liam McCormick of Oilers Daily, in 29 games now, Taylor Hall has 6 goals and 13 points. Given the circumstances that's a fine rate of production, but it's still far away from his star level seasons.

At $6M, taking on Hall would be a significant risk for the Oilers. They'd have to pay significantly more for Chicago and a third team to potentially retain salary.

The idea of bringing Hall back to the city of Champions has sparked mixed reviews among fans.

Although bringing Taylor Hall back for a Stanley Cup run would be an incredible Cinderella story, I think GM Stan Bowman should stay clear of Taylor Hall.

Despite his strong ties to the City of Chicago, Hall's best days are behind him, and there will be plenty of other suitable options leading up to the trade deadline.
