Team Canada head coach Dave Cameron is in the hot seat for his poor handling of Edmonton Oilers prospect

Last night concluded arguably the most disappointing World Juniors showcase the nation has witnessed in decades, and Team Canada head coach is being blasted for his questionable coaching tactics.
This marks the second straight consecutive season Team Canada has been ousted by Czechia in the quarter finals, and the Canadian junior system appears to be in shambles.
With brutal losses to Latvia and the United States, Team Canada put themselves in a tough position setting up a tough quarterfinals matchup against Czechia, the team that ousted them in the quarters at the 2024 IIHF World Junior Championship.
The team's roster decisions are baffling, he has been out-coached nearly every game and it appears that he's nothing more than a nepotism hire. His OHL team is 13th place in the league and he's chosen as the head coach for Team Canada? Hmmm... why's that? OH RIGHT... he coaches the Ottawa 67's and the tournament is in Ottawa. Another classic case of Hockey Canada playing politics again.

David Cameron benched Beau Akey for way too many games
Heading into the tournament, Oilers fans had their eyes set on their top defence prospect Beau Akey.
While Akey appeared to have a nervous start to the tournament, Head coach David Cameron made the executive decision to bench for way too long, directly impacting his confidence for the rest of the tournament.
Receiving just over 5 minutes of TOI in two crucial matchups, head coach Dave Cameron never gave Beau Akey a fair chance to get his game going.
According to Ryan Hall of Oilers Daily, The 19 year old prospect was drafted by the Oilers, in the second round, 56th overall during the 2023 entry draft.
During his 2022-2023 campaign with the Barrie Colts, he had played 66 games, scored eleven goals with 36 assists for 47 points which gave the Oilers management hope that he would become a fixture on their blue line within the next couple of seasons.
