I don't think there was ever any doubt that Mattias Ekholm was going to make the team, but Viktor Arvidsson's selection is somewhat of a surprise.
Viktor Arvidsson has been dealing with nagging injuries for the better part of the 2024-25 season.
Team Sweden must have some inside information regarding Arvidsson's injury to be comfortable enough selecting him.
Perhaps a stint at the international stage is exactly what Arvidsson needs to regain his offensive edge.
In 16 regular season games this season, Viktor Arvidsson has just managed 2 goals and 3 assists, posting a +2 rating on the ice.
As it stands, 3 members of the Edmonton Oilers will be representing their respective countries at the 4-Nations Face-Off tournament.
The official announcement regarding Edmonton Oilers captain
Connor McDavid's spot on Team Canada should be dropping any minute, and fans around the world finally get to watch their favourite players on hockey's biggest stage.
