The Calgary Flames are suffering a devastating blow as it was recently reported that forward Anthony Mantha will be sidelined for the remainder of the season due to an ACL injury sustained against the Montreal Canadiens.

The injury occurred back on November 5th during the Flames 3-2 overtime win against the Montreal Canadiens.

The play was nothing out of the ordinary as Mantha was in the Habs zone retrieving the puck, but unfortunately took an awkward hit along the boards, resulting in significant damage being done to his knee.

It's always tough to see a routine play cause such a significant injury for players, and it's a reminder of how dangerous the game is. Specifically ACL injuries are very tough to recover from, and players often have trouble finding their game again afterward.

Mantha had signed a one year contract with the Flames last offseason for $3.5M, and was off to a fantastic start with 7 points in 13 games. He probably wasn't a part of the Flames long-term plans, but if he continued this rate of scoring, they likely would've traded him at the deadline for a great return.

Mantha was off to a respectable start with the Calgary Flames, notching 7 points in just 13 regular season games.

Despite the injury, it appears that the Calgary Flames are coming back down to earth after starting the NHL season 5-0. Recently, they've lost 7 of their last 9, proving they're actually the re-building team analysts considered them to be.

It appears that the Calgary Flames woes have just intensified as Anthony Mantha will not be returning to the ice for the remainder of the 2024-25 season.
