The Edmonton Oilers are coming off a thrilling 5-3 comeback victory, and captain Connor McDavid notched 3 points to help the Oilers notch the crucial victory. While the game presented a few controversial headlines, one positive story that emerged from the chaos is that Connor McDavid surpassed the legendary Jarri Kurri to claim the second most points in Oilers history.

It's no secret that Connor McDavid is regarded as the best hockey player on the planet, and he continues to NHL fans even more reasons to believe it.

With last night's performance, the beloved Oilers captain upped his career point total to 1,044, leap frogging Jarri Kurri for 2nd most points in franchise history.

Skating 10 seasons with the Oilers from 1980-90, Kurri's time in Edmonton totaled 754 contests in which he amassed 474 goals and 569 assists for 1,043 points. The Finnish forward's days with the Oilers were also underscored by a multitude of championships, counting five Stanley Cup wins.

With the feat, McDavid is now only 626 points back of Wayne Gretzky to become the Oilers' all-time leading scorer. The five-time Art Ross Trophy winner is already second in franchise assists, behind Gretzky, and sixth in goals behind Gretzky, Kurri, Glenn Anderson, Mark Messier, and teammate Leon Draisaitl.

Now, there's only one man left to surpass until Connor McDavid becomes the greatest Oiler of all time -- Wayne Gretzky.
