The Edmonton Oilers are gearing up for another intense game tonight against the Colorado Avalanche, but fans around the league are starting to grow weary of the NHL's brutal officiating.

Last night's game against the Minnesota Wild presented a few intriguing storylines to say the least.

Both Connor McDavid and Ryan Hartman have landed under the proverbial microscope for questionable hits, but the real focus seems to be on the referee's -- how could they miss such obvious calls on both instances?

Fans around the league call out NHL officials

Following last night's game, fans around the NHL put their foot down, calling out the NHL for their overall decline in quality refereeing.

"Refs didn't call the slewfoot on McDavid last game. NHL doesn't protect its players, especially the stars. Brutal,"

One wrote."@nhl what the f**k ya'll got going on with the officiating man.. how has it gotten this bad??? Lets not even get into goaltender interference..,"

"Doesn't get more blatant that this. Just when I thought the Kemp-McDavid was textbook this is even more. WOW" a user commented."And the ref right there looking at it.

Maybe if they made the fines for shit like this higher than $5000 . Make it $50,000," another wrote.

Both Ryan Hartman and Connor McDavid walked away without consequence, but fans seem to be more livid at the referee's rather than the players.
