Edmonton Oilers could be fined for public statement on Connor McDavid
The Edmonton Oilers are dealing with the aftermath of an ugly 3-2 to loss at the hands of the Vancouver Canucks. While Connor McDavid and Conor Garland seem to be dominating the headlines, the Edmonton Oilers organization have now chimed in with an official statement on the events that have unfolded.
"The Edmonton oilers organization is disappointed and we share our fans frustration over the three game suspension of our captain Connor McDavid. We support him through this process and the organization and our fans look forward to having hi back in the lineup vs the Seattle Kraken next week. "

According to Liam McCormick of Oilers Daily, The Oilers organization is actively making this statement to fans to recognize those annoyances, apologize for the outcome, and perhaps put some pressure on the NHL to raise the standard of officiating.
Oilers ownership could be getting involved after statement from team on McDavid suspension
Oilers analyst Bruce Curlock noted that owner Daryl Katz could be lobbying some feelings toward the NHL. With a statement like this that comes from the organization as a whole, that's essentially confirmed.
Back in 2021, the New York Rangers were fined for a similar type of statement. The NHL fined the Rangers an extraodrinary $250,000 for what Commissioner Gary Bettman called demeaning personal comments made publicly about head of player safety George Parros. It was believed to be the largest publicly announced fine of its kind in NHL history.
While the Edmonton Oilers are feeling the negative impact of their star forward being sidelined, it should be interesting to see how the NHL handles this statement from the Oilers organization.
