The Edmonton Oilers are facing off against the Montreal Canadiens tonight, and head coach Kris Knoblauch continues to drop important updates.

The Edmonton Oilers are looking to bounce-back from a devastating 4-3 overtime loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs, and head coach Kris Knoblauch is implementing some significant roster changes.

Tonight, backup goaltender Calvin Pickard gets the nod between the pipes, and Edmonton Oilers forward Viktor Arvidsson has been ruled out of the lineup as he continues to recover from nagging injuries.

As it stands, 39 year old forward Corey Perry has been promoted to the top 6, substituting Arvidsson's spot on the 2nd line.

Darnell Nurse suffered an injury after a horrible hit from Ryan Reaves, but at this moment, the extent of his injury is not known. The Oilers released an update that Nurse was alert and in good spirits, but it's unknown when he will be able to return.

It's surprising to see Victor Arvidsson expected to be unavailable for tonight's game. The Oilers didn't recall a forward and instead played 7 defenceman in his absence, indicating that Arvidsson's injury was minor and his return would be imminent.

The Edmonton Oilers seem to be hitting their stride lately, but the injury to Darnell Nurse and Viktor Arvidsson are definitely concerning.

Stuart Skinner's play between the pipes has been extremely unpredictable as of late. Skinner has been prone to allowing costly goals late in the 3rd period, and Oilers insider Bruce McCurdy has an interesting take on Knoblauch's roster decision.

» Best guess here is that coach Kris Knoblauch will start Pickard in Montreal on Monday, Skinner in Ottawa Tuesday, and whichever one performs better when the Oilers host Minnesota on Thursday.»
- Bruce McCurdy, Edmonton Journal

The Montreal Canadiens have also been struggling as of late, posting a 6-10-2 record, the Oilers have a great opportunity to pick up a win despite their current injury situation.
