Jack Campbell, who has had a long history with mental health struggles was admitted to the PA's Players Assistance Program on October 4th.
Campbell faced stiff competition from Alex Lyon, Cam Talbot, Ville Husso, and Sebastian Cossa, and Jack ultimately removed himself from the NHL picture before he was able to prove himself.
With that being said, Former Edmonton Oilers goaltender jack Campbell made his first start last night for the Grand Rapids Griffins -- Detroit Red Wings farm affiliate.
Chicago won the game 3-1, with Austin Watson tallying the lone Griffins goal, but Campbell delivered a sound performance-29 saves on 32 shots. For a goaltender who hadn't played meaningful hockey since last spring's Calder Cup Playoffs, that's an awfully sound performance. -The Hockey News
According to Liam McCormick of Oilers Daily, despite how poorly things went for Campbell in Edmonton, he's still an incredible person beloved by teammates and fans.
Campbell already defied the odds to make the NHL late in his career, maybe now he can launch a comeback for himself with the Red Wings if he can continue to impress between the pipes.
Regardless, I think Jack Campbell is someone everyone in Edmonton is rooting for, and we're just glad to see him back in action.
