The New York Rangers sent shockwaves down the NHL today, trading their captain Jacob Trouba to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for Urho Vaakanainen and a fourth-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft.

Well folks, today marks one of the ugliest divorces the NHL has seen in recent memory.

In a recent interview, Jacob Trouba exposed the ugliness behind the scenes with some resentful comments towards the New York Rangers organization.

"It's a rite of passage to get fired from MSG."

I asked Jacob Trouba if the Rangers discussed putting him on waivers as a pressure point to have him waive for a trade.

«Yeah, it was a threat.»

The New York Rangers were in a bind with Jacob Trouba, and general manager Chris Drury has been making every attempt to relocate the disgruntled captain.
The other option for Chris Drury is to place Jacob Trouba on waivers, but it appears that Jacob Trouba's time playing for the New York Rangers has come to a bitter end.
Jacob Trouba has been on the trade block for quite some time -- but Jacob Trouba's personal life makes things rather complex.
Now, Jacob Trouba has now landed a new job in California, and he seems to be embracing the new opportunity.
"Anaheim was one of the places my wife and I were interested in," Trouba said. "Just everything about it. Where the team's at, I think they have a great opportunity in the next couple years.

It's kind of a similar situation to when I came to New York with the really good young players that are ready to take the next step, and if there's something I can do to help contribute to that, I think that's my goal.

I think it's safe to say that there's no love lost between the Rangers organization and their former captain.
One only imagine how loud the "boo birds" will be when Jacob Trouba makes his inevitable return to MSG.
