Frank Seravalli makes bold claim on Zach Hyman's future with Team Canada
The hockey world is gearing up for the 4 Nations Face-Off Tournament kicking off in February, and Edmonton Oilers forward Zach Hyman has been left off Team Canada's roster.
Last night marked Zach Hyman's first game back from injury, and the Edmonton Oilers secured a decisive 6-3 victory.
Surprisingly, Zach Hyman put on an absolute offensive clinic, scoring two goals to help the Oilers emerge victorious.
With that being said, Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli has made a bold statement, reporting that Zach Hyman has emerged as a front runner to replace an injured Team Canada player if the opportunity presents itself.
«Let's look at three names who I believe have come to the top of Team Canada's list [for possible injury replacements]. They include Mark Scheifele from the Winnipeg Jets, Zach Hyman from the Edmonton Oilers, and on defence, I believe one of the last players cut was MacKenzie Weegar from the Calgary Flames."
-Frank Seravalli "Hyman had a big first game back from injury last night. He was on hat-trick watch and almost doubled his season-long goal total. That was a huge response to being cut from the 4 Nations Face-Off team. If he continues at a clip like this, he's certainly going to be at the very top of the list.»
-Frank Seravalli
It's no secret by now that Zach Hyman hasn't exactly has an ideal start to the year.
Coming off a 53 goal season last year, it appears that his recent 20 game slump was the deciding factor regarding Team Canada's decision.
After morning skate yesterday,Zach Hyman spoke with the media, sharing his disappointment about missing the opportunity to represent his home country.
"With Team Canada, I think anyone who's on the cusp, or whatever the case may be there's obviously disappointment. But at the same time, my focus has always been here with Edmonton. So yeah, there's some disappointment obviously but a lot of excitement for me today being back in the lineup."
-Zach Hyman
Although he's still a long-shot to make the team, it's nice to see Zach Hyman playing his way back into the 4 Nations-Face-Off picture.
