When they Oilers first acquired Emberson, fans weren't sure what the final product would look like, but he's been rock solid so far.
Recently, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman broke down Emberson's situation heading into the new year.
»On January 1st, players who have been signed to one-year contracts are eligible to sign extensions. There's a few of them, obviously, and one of the names I'm going to be looking at is Ty Emberson of Edmonton. Emberson is cooled down and playing very well After what happened last summer to the Oilers, they're not going to be taking any chances.»

»Emberson is just fine on the third pairing. In fact, I would not be surprised if when January 1 flips past on the calendar Bowman looks at extending him.
