The Edmonton Oilers are seriously regretting trading this player
The Edmonton Oilers are currently regretting trading away former defence prospect Micheal Kesselring, who's quietly emerged as the top blue-liner on Utah HC.
Micheal Kesselring, a former defensive prospect on the Edmonton Oilers is someone fans never really payed much attention to.
On March 2nd, 2023, Ken Holland did the best he could to bolster the Edmonton Oilers for the post-season, trading Micheal Kesselring to the Arizona Coyotes in exchange for Nick Bjugstad.
They sent Kesselring and a third-round pick to the Coyotes for Bjugstad, who would rejoin the Coyotes as a free agent that summer. Less than two years later, Kesselring has established himself as an integral part of the Utah Hockey Club roster.
«(It's) just confidence level,» Kesselring said. «I think I came in this year knowing that I was ready to go, 100 percent.»
That confidence has directly resulted in dramatic results, as Kesselring now finds himself playing top minutes on Utah Hc's top pairing.
Kesselring's ice time increased by more than three minutes the game after Durzi's injury. Players are never glad to see their teammates get hurt, but one man's injury is another man's opportunity -- and Michael Kesselring is proving that. In 25 regular season game so far, the big the 6-foot-4 blue-liner has notched 3 goals and 9 assists and posts an impressive +9 rating on the ice.
To make matters even worse, Michael Kesselring's skill set is exactly what the Edmonton Oilers are looking for right now -- leading to some regretful feelings.
Kesselring is a big shut-down defenceman with a right handed shot, and Oilers fans can only think "what if" had former GM Ken Holland kept him around.
