The Edmonton Oilers to trade their star defenseman?

The Edmonton Oilers' media has been very critical on defenseman Evan Bouchard this season since his struggles have become apparent.
In what is supposed to be a contract year which is typically when players perform at their best, Bouchard has instead faced a lot of criticism.
Even with his inconsistent play, some reports suggest Bouchard still expects a contract in the $10-11 million per season which is a demand that has started frustration among fans and analysts.
Dave Staples of the Edmonton Journal showed some issues in Bouchard's game and it's mainly in his passing, which has been erratic.
"He's got the yips, it seems, which is odd for a player so calm and co-ordinated as Bouchard. But that's what the numbers tell us.

Another concern is Bouchard's turnover rate, which has become a significant problem and a good example occurred against the Seattle Kraken, where his costly turnover directly led to a goal.
Former NHL defenseman Jordan Schmaltz suggested trading Bouchard if another player could become a power-play quarterback in the Oilers lineup.
"One guy I'd be looking to move potentially at the deadline is Oilers pending RFA Evan Bouchard. If I'm Stanny Bowman and I see a body of work over the next 15 odd games from John Klingberg that warrants PP1 QB ability, are you ok with maybe getting a solid return on the 25-year-old out of Oakville Ontario? Something to keep an eye on over the next month."

If his struggles continue, Edmonton may be forced to explore trade options before the deadline.
