The legendary octopus tradition made its way onto the ice once again during the third period of the matchup between the Edmonton Oilers and the Detroit Red Wings.
During the game, a fan took the perfect moment to throw the Detroit Red Wings hockey symbol on the ice which drew cheers from the crowd and a quick reaction from the officials.
The octopus toss has been a tradition of Detroit hockey since 1952 and originally symbolized the eight wins needed to secure the Stanley Cup in the Original Six era.
Despite various attempts by the NHL to discourage it, the fans have kept the tradition alive and continue sneaking octopuses into games and waiting for the right moment to let them fly on the ice.
Seeing an octopus land on the ice is always a sign of passion from Red Wings fans and whether it's at home in Little Caesars Arena or on the road, it's always funny to see.
It's a reminder of the team's rich history and the devoted fanbase that keeps the tradition going.
While it might not impact the scoreboard, it definitely adds to the game's energy and is just another reason why Detroit hockey is special.
