Cody Ceci is currently playing his first season with the San Jose Sharks, but new statistics reveal he's delivering some of the worst performances in the NHL.
Hockey analyst Preston Hodgkinson reveals that Cody Ceci is ranked dead last in chances-against and high-danger chances-against.
Now, these advanced analytics are probably confusing to the average hockey fan. So, to put it into perspective -- Cody Ceci is being absolutely dominated when he's on the ice.
When Cody Ceci first started out the 2024-25 campaign with the San Jose Sharks, fans and executives we're praising for his sound play on the blue-line.
Fast-forward 6 weeks later, Cody Ceci's game has gown downhill.
According to Liam McCormick of
Oilers Daily, Ceci's abysmal results in San Jose show that Oilers fans were really right about the negative effect he was having on the team.
The improved results for
Darnell Nurse this season could also simply be because of a lack of Ceci. In the last three playoffs, Ceci was by far the weakest link, and his pairing the weakest pairing.
-Liam McCormick, Oilers Daily
As it stands, I think the rumblings of bringing Cody Ceci back for a deadline transaction has now been muted.
Hopefully Cody Ceci will be able to turn his game around. If not, he could soon be facing a PTO situation next season.
