The Edmonton Oilers emerged victorious over the New York Rangers last night, but Sportsnet analysts noticed a tense situation regarding Mattias Ekholm and Kasperi Kapanen.

At 5:49 in the 3rd period, Connor McDavid tucked home his first goal of the night off a nifty feed from Evan Bouchard, but the play was initially set-up by a cross ice pass from newcomer Kasperi Kapanen.

Although the play ultimately put the Edmonton Oilers up 5-1, some controversy has stirred up on the ensuing celebration.

During the goal celebration, Sportsnet analysts noticed Mattias Ekholm ripping into Kasperi Kapanen.

On the play, Kapanen rounded the Rangers net and delivered a dangerous cross-ice low to high pass, that three different Rangers could've intercepted for a quick turnover.

Ekholm seemed to be genuinely ticked as the conversation went, which was better captured by another Sportsnet broadcast clip. The players were possibly discussing that dangerous pass and warning him that it could be costly.

Regardless, Mattias Ekholm didn't look to impressed with Kapseri Kapanen during the Oilers celebration.

Perhaps Mattias Ekholm was just voicing something he could have done differently considering Kapanen's pass was relatively risky.

With that being said, Ekholm isn't the type of player to berate or cause any drama in the locker-room.

Obviously, Mattias Ekholm felt the need to voice some frustration, and perhaps Kapanen can take this situation as a learning experience moving forward.

The Edmonton Oilers will look to ride the momentum when they take on Utah HC next Friday.
