Connor McDavid reveals unexpected player he's most eager to play at 4 Nations Face-Off
The official rosters for the highly anticipated 4 Nations Face-Off released today, and Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid revealed who he's most excited to play with.
During an interview with Sportsnet, Connor McDavid was asked who he's most excited to share the ice with, and his answer may come as a surprise to some.
Who would you be most excited to play with?
MCDAVID: Hard not to say Sidney Crosby, hard not to say Nathan Mackinnon, two guys that are just amazing, some of the greatest to ever do it a guy like Cale Makar. Sammy Bennett, who was my minor hockey linemate for 8 years, so hopefully there's a bit of chemistry between us still.
-Connor McDavid Of course, the usual suspects were listed regarding Sidney Crosby, Nathan Mackinnon, and Kale Makar.
Although the above mentioned seemed like the obvious choices, Florida Panthers forward Sam Bennett was thrown into the mix due to their longstanding history as former line mates.
To add an extra twist, Sam Bennett triumphed over Connor McDavid in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals. It should be fascinating to see how they gel together on Team Canada.
»McDavid and Bennett are childhood pals who used to play mini-sticks in hotel hallways at travel tournaments. They were linemates from before they hit double digits in age - the younger McDavid played up an age group. They first played with the York-Simcoe Express and finished their youth hockey careers in minor midget with Strong's Toronto Marlies in 2011-12.»
- Daniel Nugent-Bowman, the Athletic
The tournament, running from February 12 to 20, will feature Canada, the USA, Sweden, and Finland, with games held in Montreal and Boston.
